Mari Fast Fawn Cabe
Camas Path Department of Education Student Resource/Higher Education Specialist
My name is Mari Fast Fawn Cabe. I was born in Spokane, WA, and raised in Deer Park, WA. I continued to live there till I was in my early 20’s and then moved back to Spokane, and currently reside between in the Colbert area. I am an enrolled member of the Kalispel Tribe of Indians and have been eager to get to know those in the community and learn the traditions that have been passed down. I have two sons that bring love, light, and joy to my everyday life who are currently 14, and 8 years old. We have a cat named “meow meow”, a dog named “Kaia”, and most recently a rat added to the pets that reside in our home named “Stuart.”
I’m curious by nature. I always ask a lot of questions and often have my nose buried in a book, newspaper, or blog that has to do with finding new ways to communicate and influence others in a positive manner. When I’m not at work I spend my time with my boys and pets. We always try and find new things to help their minds stay healthy and engaged in a safe socially distanced manner in this new pandemic lifestyle we are all in. My hobbies have pretty much stayed the same since childhood. They include photography, painting, and writing poetry.
When I was growing up, I watched my mom who works for the Deer Park Elementary School district for many years have a passion and excitement for helping the students, parents, and staff she engaged with. It didn’t take long for me to make the connection between the job we do and the quality of life we live. Seeing her interaction with them helping and connecting through communication made me realize I wanted my career to go down a path that would lead me to focus on helping others through engaged interaction. That is the reason I chose to pursue the position I now hold in the Education Department. I now work in the Camas Path Department of Education as a Student Resource/Higher Education Specialist. I learned early on in my life that what motivates me is helping others with needs or wants and helping them find the right solution. That would be my favorite part; working with people and helping them understand what the process is and what needs to be done to complete a task at hand. Seeing a vendor, client, or community member who stopped in the office leave with a smile on their face is the best.
