What is your Job Title and what department do you work in?

Police Officer with the Kalispel Tribal Police Department

What is the best thing about your job?

Working with great people and being appreciated by the community we serve

What is the best thing about Kalispel Tribe?

Working for the Kalispel Tribe is very rewarding as I’ve been welcomed since day 1 by the Tribe’s Leadership and Tribal Members.

What does your workspace look like?

My “workspace” is one of the best parts of my job. My mobile work space is a patrol car and the views are stunning. I’m sure that everyone who has spent time away from here will agree this is one of the most beautiful places to live/work in the world.

What has been one of your proudest moments working at Kalispel Tribe?

I have many and most involve connecting with the community and continuing to build a trust that my coworkers have built before I started working for the Tribal Police. If I had to point to one incident as a police officer, it would be catching 4 people in the act of spray-painting graffiti on the Manresa Grotto caves.

What do you like to do when you are not at the office?

Spend time with family and friends boating, fishing and hiking.

If you could pick one person that inspires you, who would it be and why?

My dad who adopted me at the age of 10. I know he was put on this earth to be a dad and showed me love as if I had been his son all my life. If you listen to the song, Didn’t have to be, by Brad Paisley, you’ll understand how I feel.

What advice would you give to today’s youth?

Be thankful, happy and enjoy life to the fullest, but don’t hurt people in the process. In other words, be kind to others and have a positive outlook on life.

What are five words (or less) of advice for others in your profession? I can’t answer that question in five words or less. It’s an ugly time for policing in America and it would be easy to become calas towards the people we serve. Just know that the majority of the community you serve want you there and respect the position you hold.
