Pend Oreille County Community Event: Veterans' Headstone Cleaning

As Memorial Day approaches, we invite the community to honor our local heroes by participating in a special event dedicated to cleaning the headstones of our Veterans. On Sunday, May 18th, join us at the Cusick American Legion from 8 AM to 5 PM to show your respect and gratitude for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Why Participate?
Cleaning headstones not only restores appearance but also pays tribute to the service and dedication of our Veterans. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, particularly with children encouraged to join in on the meaningful activities.
Volunteers Needed!
To make this event a success, we need volunteers like you! It’s crucial to sign up in advance so we can effectively plan for the day.
Please bring gloves, brushes, and buckets if possible; soap and warm water will be provided at the cemeteries.
Breakfast and Raffle:
Start your day with breakfast provided by the Women’s Auxiliary from 8 AM to 9:30 AM.
After the cleaning, we will hold an appreciation raffle featuring donated items from local businesses as a token of gratitude for all volunteers.
Event Schedule:
8:00 AM - 9:30 AM: Volunteers meet at the American Legion for breakfast
9:30 AM - 10:00 AM: Cemetery assignments and distribution of cleaning supplies
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM: Headstone cleaning of Veterans
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Meet back at the American Legion for the appreciation raffle
