National Police Woman Day was officially observed on Friday, September 12th, we continue to honor and recognize the incredible women who serve in the Kalispel Tribal Police Department. Their dedication, strength, and compassion make a lasting impact on our community every day. Today and every other day, we proudly spotlight the women officers who protect and serve with integrity and heart.

Amber McLeod
Police Officer
KTPD Since 2025

Amber McLeod recently joined the Kalispel Tribal Law Enforcement team, bringing with her a strong sense of purpose and compassion. Inspired by the positive portrayals of police officers in the shows she watched growing up, Amber knew early on that she wanted a career in public safety. She values the opportunity to bring calm, safety, and solutions to those in need. Amber is proud of her ability to treat everyone with respect and dignity, recognizing the unique needs of each situation. In her spare time, she enjoys being active outdoors, working out, and spending time with her children, friends, and dogs.

Annastasia Hurt-Moran
Police Officer

Annastasia Hurt-Moran joined the Kalispel Tribal Law Enforcement team in 2024 and is embracing the early stages of her career with enthusiasm. She is passionate about creating safe communities and chose law enforcement as a way to contribute to that goal. Annastasia is currently enjoying field training and learning the many facets of the job. She finds pride in being able to help others and make a difference. In her free time, she enjoys practicing Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing, reading, and riding her motorcycle.

Candice Wippel
Police Sergeant

Candice Wippel joined the Kalispel Tribal Law Enforcement team in 2021, driven by a deep commitment to serving her people. She began her career as a Correctional Officer but felt called to do more. Inspired by her grandmother’s teachings about caring for others, Candice pursued a degree in Criminal Justice and transitioned into policing. As a Sergeant, she takes pride in building meaningful relationships with community members, especially those she might not have otherwise met. Though naturally introverted, her role pushes her to engage with the public, and she finds fulfillment in creating positive outcomes, even in difficult situations. Outside of work, Candice enjoys spending time with her family and her beloved dogs.

Caitlin Stookey
Police Officer

Caitlin Stookey has proudly served as a Kalispel Tribal Police Officer since 2019. From a young age, she knew she wanted to help others and make a difference through law enforcement. Her passion lies in being a steady presence for those in need, offering support and protection to the community. Caitlin is especially proud of her ability to connect with people from all walks of life during their most vulnerable moments. When she’s off duty, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her three dogs—Maverick, Goose, and Duke—whether at the river or in the park.

Sara Wickham
Police Officer

Sara Wickham has been a Kalispel Tribal Police Officer for just over a year. She finds purpose in being the person others can count on during their most difficult moments. Sara is passionate about bringing justice and peace to those who may not have the ability to speak or advocate for themselves. From a young age, she knew she wanted to be a protector and a voice for those in need. In her spare time, she enjoys riding her motorcycle and spending time with her family. As a Policewoman, Sara is proud of
achieving her goals and thriving in a field historically dominated by men. She believes in breaking barriers and reminds us that with determination, anything is possible.

Shayla McCarter
Police Officer

With over three years of experience, Shayla McCarter brings dedication and heart to her role as a Kalispel Tribal Police Officer. She was drawn to public safety from a young age and finds purpose in helping others and making a positive impact in the community. Each day presents new challenges, and Shayla embraces the rewarding nature of her work. She is especially proud of being a role model for other women in her family and community. Outside of work, Shayla enjoys hiking and spending quality time with her loved ones.
