What is your Job Title and what department do you work in?
I am the Director of Career Training & Mentoring. I work within Camas Path, however the nature of my job creates the opportunity to work with almost all Kalispel Tribal Departments.
What is the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is the ability to do something different almost every day. Being involved on projects throughout the Tribe and creating training opportunities for community members with these projects is absolutely wonderful. I enjoy seeing someone that might lack confidence in their abilities be challenged in a way that they are able to gain self confidence needed to complete a project they are proud of.
What is the best thing about Kalispel Tribe?
They are always open for new, creative ideas.
What does your workspace look like?
My workspace is littered with prototypes, sticky notes and lists. We have worked hard to beautify KCTC building inside and out, to be more inviting to all community members at any time.
What has been one of your proudest moments working at Kalispel Tribe?
There have been several – every time I see a community member that has been through the program at KCTC, and they are thriving in a rewarding job they enjoy – I am proud to be a small part of their success.
What do you like to do when you are not at the office?
In my time away from work I enjoy anything outdoors with my family. I love to garden, hunt, fish, pick berries – I am grateful everyday that I get to live and work in this area.
What advice would you give to today’s youth?
Learn from your mistakes. Give others second chances, and always find a way to enjoy where you are in life. Reach out to others if you need to – and never be afraid.
