Es yapqéyni spq̓niʔs means The Celebration Month.

History and information on what happened during The Celebration Month:

This was the celebration month, a time when the people took a break from work and got together to re-enact the old songs and dances of the Ancestors. The number of days that the celebration lasted depended on how much rations were available to feed the people. It was normally 10 days.

Then the people would return to work in gathering berries and other medicinal plants. Serviceberries were picked and mixed with dried Bitterroot and cooked together. They were also sometimes pounded and made into little cakes and dried.

These are some of the berries that the people gathered:
Serviceberry = Słaq – (used extensively – dried) (Middle of July)
Chokecherry = łx̣ʷłóx̣– (used extensively – dried)
Raspberry = Ll̓ac – (July)
Thimbleberry = Polpl̓qn – (July)
Gooseberry = Nt̓ét̓emelps – (July)
Currant = Stm̓tú – (July)
